Winter can be a difficult time for families already struggling to put food on the table.

For vulnerable households, the cold can bring an additional burden — heating costs, warm clothing and blankets become necessities that many simply cannot afford.

The Ehsaas Trust Winter Appeal aims to support families in need by providing essential monthly food rations, warm blankets, sweaters, gloves & socks, helping them face the winter months with greater security, dignity and hope.

Charity in Islam: A Responsibility of Compassion

Islam places great importance on caring for those who are struggling. Charity is not simply about giving away what we have; it is an expression of mercy, compassion and gratitude for the blessings Allah has given us.

Allah ﷻ says:

“And whatever good you put forward for yourselves — you will find it with Allah.”Qur’an 73:20

The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ also encouraged believers to care for others, saying:

“He is not a believer whose stomach is filled while the neighbour to his side goes hungry.”(Al-Adab Al-Mufrad)

These teachings remind us that the wellbeing of others is something we should care about. A family should not have to choose between buying food and keeping their children warm.

Your Giving Can Make a Difference

Through the Ehsaas Winter Appeal, your generosity can help provide practical support to families who need it most.

Monthly Rations A food parcel can help a family with essential household staples, providing food security and helping reduce the pressure of everyday living costs.

Warm Blankets A simple blanket can provide warmth and comfort during cold winter nights, particularly for children, elderly people and families living in inadequate housing.

Warm Sweaters, Gloves & Socks These can protect someone from the cold and allow children and adults to leave their homes without having to face winter temperatures without adequate clothing.

What may seem like a small act of giving to us can mean something much greater to a family in need.

Sadaqah: Giving With Sincerity

Islam teaches us that charity should be given sincerely, seeking the pleasure of Allah ﷻ.

Allah ﷻ says:

“Whatever you spend in charity, it is for your own good.”Qur’an 2:272

Sadaqah can take many forms. Providing food to someone who is hungry, giving clothing to someone who is cold and helping a struggling family are all acts of kindness that reflect the Islamic values of rahmah (mercy), ihsan (excellence and kindness) and sadaqah (voluntary charity).

Give Before the Cold Sets In

Winter does not wait for those who are struggling to become ready.

This year, you can help make the winter a little easier for a family in need.

Your donation can help provide:

  • Monthly Rations — essential food for families
  • Warm Blankets — comfort during cold nights
  • Warm Sweaters, Gloves & Socks — protection from the winter cold

Together, we can help families experience not only warmth, but also the dignity of knowing that someone cares.

Give With Ehsaas. Give With Compassion.

The word Ehsaas reflects a sense of feeling, compassion and concern for others.

This Winter, let us turn that feeling into action.

Give what you can.Feed a family.Warm a home. Protect a child from the cold. Give hope to someone facing a difficult winter.

Because in Islam, caring for those in need is not simply an act of generosity — it is an act of faith, compassion and responsibility.
