Ehsaas Trust’s Health Initiatives: Providing Medical Assistance to the Underserved

In many parts of Pakistan, people still don’t have access to basic medical care. For families living in remote villages or urban slums, even a small illness can become a big worry. Due to the financial crisis, they can’t go to doctors for simple check-ups.

Sadly, this leads to preventable health problems turning into serious diseases.

Ehsaas Trust believes that everyone deserves quality healthcare, no matter where they live or how much money they have. With this goal in mind, the Trust runs several health projects across Pakistan, reaching the most vulnerable and underserved communities.

From free medical camps to full hospital services, dialysis treatment to eye surgeries, Ehsaas Trust is making a real difference on the ground.

Bringing Healthcare Where It’s Needed Most

Ehsaas Trust is working in areas where hospitals are far away, or healthcare simply doesn’t exist. They are not just treating illnesses, but they are giving hope to people who have almost given up.

Over the years, their medical projects have reached more than 1.4 million people. That number includes children, elderly people, pregnant women, and families living in extreme poverty.

The Trust doesn’t just drop in for one event and leave. They aim to build long-term systems, support local facilities, and offer continuous care where it’s needed. This approach helps create lasting change in the lives of the people they serve.

Medical Camps: Care on the Frontlines

One of Ehsaas Trust’s most effective projects is the Free Medical Camps programme. These are temporary camps set up in poor and rural areas where people can’t access proper healthcare.

Doctors, nurses, and volunteers from Ehsaas visit these areas with medicines, basic equipment, and a passion to help. Patients get free check-ups and treatments for common issues like skin infections, stomach problems, respiratory issues, diabetes, high blood pressure, joint pain, and minor injuries. For many, these camps provide their first proper medical care in years.

These camps also become a lifeline during emergencies like floods or disease outbreaks. For example, when Pakistan faced deadly floods, Ehsaas Trust quickly set up emergency camps in the affected areas. Families who had lost their homes were able to get urgent medical help without worrying about cost.

Eye Camps: Helping People See Again

Imagine not being able to see your loved ones clearly, or struggling to walk because your vision is blurred. That’s the reality for thousands of people in Pakistan who live with treatable eye conditions. Many can’t afford glasses, let alone surgery.

Ehsaas Trust runs Free Eye Camps in areas like Balochistan, KPK, and Azad Kashmir. People come from nearby villages to get their eyes checked. Those with weak eyesight receive free spectacles. People suffering from cataracts get free operations. In just one year, over 3,000 people were treated, and more than 300 underwent cataract surgery.

For many, this care is life-changing. One elderly man who had lost his sight for two years was finally able to see his grandchildren again, something he thought would never happen. These small acts of kindness restore not just vision, but dignity.

Dialysis Centre: Fighting Kidney Disease

Chronic kidney disease is growing in Pakistan. Many people need regular dialysis to stay alive, but this treatment is expensive and not widely available in public hospitals.

To help, Ehsaas Trust supports a dialysis centre known as The M.A.R.Z. Dialysis Centre. It is based in Fatima Bai Hospital in Karachi and provides full dialysis care free of cost. With five machines running regularly, the centre performs nearly 300 dialysis sessions every month.

The patients who come here often arrive tired, scared, and hopeless. But they leave knowing they’re not alone. They receive their treatment with care, compassion, and without the burden of bills. For many families, this support means a loved one gets to live longer and better.

Prosthetic Limbs: Giving Mobility Back

Losing a limb can make life incredibly difficult. People can no longer work, walk easily, or take care of themselves. For poor families, getting a prosthetic limb is nearly impossible due to the high cost.

That’s where the Prosthetic Limb Project by Ehsaas Trust comes in. Through this initiative, the Trust helps provide high-quality prosthetic limbs to those in need. These limbs are made and fitted in Pakistan, and the full process is funded by donors.

A child who lost a leg in an accident can now return to school. A father who lost his hand can once again earn money for his family. A mother who couldn’t move on her own can now walk with ease. The cost of one full prosthetic limb, including travel and accommodation for the patient, is about £3,500, but the change it brings to someone’s life is truly priceless.

Fatima Bai Hospital: A Hub of Healing

In the heart of Karachi, there’s a hospital that has been serving the community since 1985, Fatima Bai Hospital. This is a 100-bed, not-for-profit hospital that Ehsaas Trust proudly supports.

The hospital offers nearly all basic and specialised medical services. This includes emergency care, general surgeries, eye care, gynaecology, paediatrics, and mental health services. Every month, more than 4,000 patients receive treatment here.

What makes Fatima Bai Hospital special is not just its services, but its affordability. People come here knowing they’ll be treated with respect and won’t be turned away because of money. The hospital also links with local clinics and doctors, ensuring that patients can continue their treatment even after they leave the hospital.

Why Your Support Matters

None of this would be possible without the support of generous people around the world. Every donation, big or small, helps someone receive the care they desperately need.

For example, a donation of just £35 can help fund a medical camp that reaches hundreds of patients. A gift of £70 can cover the cost of a cataract operation. A monthly donation can support someone’s dialysis sessions. And if you’re in a position to do more, sponsoring a prosthetic limb at £3,500 can completely change someone’s future.

Your support doesn’t just pay for medicine or machines; it gives people a second chance, a reason to smile, and the belief that they matter.
